In this photograph I am wearing a Stiff-crowned hat with a wide brim. It is ornamented with a ribbon tied in a bow and feathers. My dress is a Mantua decorated with a sash at the waist and a ruffled collar and sleeves. I am enjoying the piece and quite time that I have to myself. In this photograph I would say that my style is depicting femininity movement of the Rocococ time period.

In 1781 John and I separated. It was for the best he was terribly unfaithful. Though our five year marriage had ended I still had our three beautiful children. We had two boys; the eldest Frederick and our younger Augustus as well as our youngest, little girl Elizabeth.

My relationship with Georgina…

In 1782 I decided to go to Bath, England. I thought that the healing waters and social activities would put me in better spirits.  At bath we could enjoy many comforts such as; riding horses, eating decadent meals and attend extravagant balls.

It was at this time that I had the pleasure of meeting the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Georgina and I became instant friends and stayed that way until her death March 30th, 1806. Our relationship was so strong from the beginning that after Bath I moved in with Georgina and William. Our friendship almost ended when I became Williams’s mistress. She was so infuriated with me that she attempted to have me thrown out of their home however luckily for me William would not have it.

A little while later she realized that what William wants William gets so she decided to live with the situation. We once again grew closer and where there for each other when we needed to be.

Since meeting writer Madame de Staël in1804, I have decided that I am very interested in becoming a writer. I have written a few things but maybe someday I will write a novel and if it goes well who knows how many I will write.

Perhaps in one story I could write about my situation with William and Georgina and how people are calling it a Menage a trois. The husband, the wife and the mistress, our current living situation works well for us. Georgina and I get to live with our beloved children, we play and eat and spend our days together, both Georgina and I, as well as the children. However much we enjoy our time spent together I cannot help but feel sorry for her. She cannot be with the man that she loves, Charles Grey, William has forbidden it. Georgina and I have been through so much together. We have both been sent away to give birth to the children that we have had out of wedlock.

Another idea would be a story of how some say that I have manipulated my way into Williams’s bed.  Some people have said that I inserted myself into the lives of an unhappy couple and took it to my advantage. I genuinely loved them both. I strongly resent the fact that people feel that I am a home wrecker.  Being the ex-wife of a cheating husband I would not wish that pain upon anyone. However William and I love each other dearly and wish to be together and this is the only way.

Her final post:

Georgina died on March 30th, 1806. She had left this world after giving her blessing for William and I to marry upon her death. Three years after her passing William and I were married, and I was given the title of the next Duchess of Devonshire. We were only married for under two and a half years when William passed away. He was succeeded by his and Georgina’s son William Cavendish who became the 6th Duke of Deovshire.  I continued my life with the children I had raised, both mine and Georgina’s, for thirteen years after Williams passing. I died exactly 18 years after Georgina. I died on March 30th 1824.
