I personally believe the two might have been friends through their fame. Charles Grey was in politics who later on became Prime Minister of The United Kingdom, and of course Georgiana Cavendish was the Duchess of Devonshire. With the Duchess being in support of The Whig Party, herself and Charles shared common beliefs which made the friendship stronger than her marriage itself. Charles has always been her first true love, regardless of the fact that the marriage she was stuck in was forced/planned. The connection and attraction they two had towards each other may have triggered the affair. This may have also caused the friendship because the two were simply wanted each other, however it could not be.

Throughout my life, and being the second oldest son of my father General Sir Charles Grey KB, I highly enjoyed politics. I was educated at many different facilities throughout The United Kingdom, however for an aristocrat it was just the typical education procedure. I highly enjoyed traveling around Europe, to visit and to work on my Grand Tour. Although traveling around Europe was wonderful, politics was my main field of interest. I was one of the youngest aristocrats for The Whig party during the French Revolution. I was a great success to my Party. I did not end up with a degree after studying at Trinity College Cambridge however, unlike most people my age back then, they were pursuing a college degree or any type of education and I however already had a place in the Parliament to do my favourite thing, to discuss and participate in the politics of The United Kingdom.

Many were aware of the affair between The Duchess and I, many at first assumed that we may have just been friends, perhaps because of the politics, however that was not even the beginning of our story. Georgiana and I met at the Devonshire house (the centre of the Whig society in London). The Duchess was attracted to me with such poise. I must say I triggered our affair because I wanted her to love me, it may not have been instant but sooner or later feelings became stronger and harder to resist. I believe I could of been the reason behind her (almost close to) divorce, but that was not the case. Many started to question whether our affair would affect my political standings, however it did not. The most damaging this could have caused was the tension between The Duke an Duchess of Devonshire. As the affair between The Duchess and myself grew faster and stronger, she ended up pregnant with our daughter Eliza Courtney. Due to her marriage with The Duke, we were forced to make our daughter grow up with my father, Sir Charles and I referred to her as my niece. Eventually
the affair between the two of us came to and end and I married my wife Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby.

There are many stories throughout my lifetime that made me who I am today. As I previously stated, I was one of the youngest to have ever entered the parliament and one of the youngest aristocrats for The Whig Party. You may be aware of the fact that I was indeed one of The Prime Ministers of The United Kingdom back in the day, however what you may not know about me is that I did not have many political experience. I never got a college degree, however got my space in the parliament, which was then limited. One of the greatest things I did was the Reform Act of 1832, what is it you may ask? It was to change a few things in the electoral system of England and Wales. Another thing many don't know is that the famous Earl Grey Tea, that we can purchase anywhere was indeed named after me and not my father. I received a bergamot oil tea as a gift once, and instantly fell in love with the flavour. I was so intrigued into creating a similar flavoured tea, the merchants then recreated it and later on named it after me, Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey.

As shown in the picture listed below, Charles Grey is wearing a Justaucorps. It is a coat with 3/4 sleeves with wide cuffs, many times this fashion accessory was left opened to exposed the button-down waistcoat at the same length. Later on it was also called the pirate coat. As time progressed, the justaucorps' shape changed and became wider around the hips. By the time Charles wore his justaucorps, many changes have been made, cuffs are much wider, the open effect looks even more real now due to hiding the buttons. Both lower and higher class would wear the justaucorps however the higher class had richer and thicker material in comparison to the lower class English. The justaucorps was then a fashionable item with form fitting curves.
